Hello, my name is Sandra Traver and I live in Millville, Pa. When I was born, I was born with dislocated hips. When I was 50 years old, I had two hips replaced, nine days apart. After the second hip replacement, I ended up with nerve damage and a drop foot on the left foot. I was told by the doctor that it could be fixed, that's when I met Doctor Kenneth Leavitt. He checked me out and found that I have Charcot Marie Tooth Disease (CMT), which is a nerve disease. He said he could have me up and walking like before surgery. He fused my foot bones together and did a nerve transplant and put a rod in my foot to be removed after 12 weeks of bed rest.
I started doing therapy and everything is going well. First I used a walker, then two canes, then one cane and finally I use no canes around the house. When I was in the hospital for my foot surgery, it was over Christmas and Dr. Leavitt came to see me everyday. What Doctor do you know who would do this?
Dr. Leavitt is a very caring and concerned doctor. He told me I could e-mail him anytime and ask him any questions and he would answer them. He did answer my questions and as far as I'm concerned, I would recommend him to anyone. He's a very loving and caring doctor.
Before surgery I had to wear a brace on my foot and special shoes. Now I can wear my normal shoes and no braces. Hurray!!!!
